ℹ️ How to Use This Calculator

Inputs Explained

  • Height Over Bore: Distance from barrel center to scope center (use presets or measure)
  • Distance to Loophole: Distance from your position to the obstacle opening
  • Dialed Elevation: Elevation dialed on scope for your target
  • Loophole Height: Height of the opening you're shooting through

Sight Picture Legend

✚ Your line of sight (where you aim)
● Actual bullet path (projectile position)
Loophole opening (obstacle)

The red dot shows where your bullet actually passes relative to your crosshair.

Understanding Results

  • Aim Top 1/3rd: Bullet passes below LOS. Aim at upper third of loophole.
  • Aim Bottom 1/3rd: Bullet passes above LOS. Aim at lower third of loophole.
  • GO: Bullet stays within loophole with recommended aim.
  • NO-GO: Bullet will hit the obstacle. Change position or don't shoot.

The Physics

When you dial elevation for a distant target:

  1. Your barrel tilts upward
  2. Your scope remains level (mechanical offset)
  3. At short distance (loophole), bullet is still rising
  4. Result: Bullet passes above or below your line of sight
